Nature of Injury - Second Injury in 3 Months

Second Injury

Frimpong was forced off early in the match on 22 October 2025 in the 5-1 win versus Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League. He has been out of the Liverpool squad for the next six weeks. Liverpool defender Jeremie Frimpong has missed the Champions League match against his former Coach Xabi Alonso with a hamstring injury. Frimpong was a crucial player for Real Madrid coach Xabi Alonso when the two of them were at Bayer Leverkusen, so the Dutch defender will be an important absence for Liverpool. Liverpool has confirmed that he will be available after the International break of the FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifiers in Europe, after 17 November.

First Injury

The Dutch right-back has just joined Liverpool, and he is facing injury in his very first match against Bournemouth on 15 August 2025 in the Premier League. An injury to the hamstring was diagnosed in the first match, and he was substituted in the 60th minute. Team Manager Arne Slot said that the medical team was right about Frimpong, and it was a good call; otherwise, this could have been a longer injury.

Expected Recovery Time and Conor Bradley

Liverpool Manager Arne Slot has confirmed that his recovery will take time until the end of the international break in September. He will not be available for the upcoming matches against Newcastle United and Arsenal. He also added that the medical team was completely right to tell me to take him off, and he's out now at the end of the international break, and that happens in the game.
Arne Slot is showing full confidence in Conor Bradley as a partial replacement for Jeremie Frimpong for the upcoming matches. Conor Bradley has also suffered two minor injuries in the previous season. He has just returned from a minor hamstring to; immediate fitness is the primary concern. Liverpool has other options in the form of Joe Gomez (Defender) and Wataru Endo (Defensive Midfielder). Still, Conor Bradly is the first replacement choice for Arne Slot has made 27 appearances in the 2024-25 season for Arne Slot's Liverpool. Conor Bradly has also made an appearance against Real Madrid in last season's Champions League. In case of Conor's fitness issue, Slot has another option, which he mentioned in his recent briefing, the 24-year-old Dominik Szoboszlai Hungarian attacking midfielder who has recently played at the same position.

Liverpopl Struggle with Injuries

Jeremie Frimpong is not the only main player missing the main matches. Allison Becker and Alexander Isak are both injured till the international break that ends on 17th November. Liverpool has lost 4 consecutive games after 5 wins in at Premier League. Allison Becker's injury is one of the reasons why he fits so good the club side, and his presence always makes a difference.

Future at Liverpool

24-year-old Jeremie Frimpong, a €35m signing from Bayer Leverkusen, is a strong replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold, who has joined Real Madrid. Liverpool has only Jeremie Frimpong and Conor Bradley as natural right-back options. That's why Jeremie has a key position in Slot's squad. Liverpool management has shown a lot of trust in Jeremie as they have no big replacement against time in case of his injury or bad performance. It's too early to say whether he fits in the squad and feels comfortable at the Club. However, the Dutch right-back has proven himself at Bayer Leverkusen; here are his career stats at his previous club.

2 September 2019, Frimpong signed a four-year deal with Celtic and made his professional debut later that month in a Scottish League Cup quarter-final against Partick Thistle, earning man of the match honours. He scored his first professional goal in a 4–0 win over Aberdeen on 27 October. He lifted his first trophy when Celtic beat Rangers 1–0 in the League Cup final on 8 December 2019. June 2020, supporters voted him Celtic’s Young Player of the Year for 2019–20.

27 January 2021, Frimpong joined Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen on a four and a half year deal. He extended his contract in October 2023 until 2028, featuring a £35 million release clause. Frimpong was a crucial part of Leverkusen’s historic 2023–24 season, helping the club secure its first-ever Bundesliga title with a 5–0 win over Werder Bremen on 14 April 2024. He also started in the 2–1 victory over Augsburg on 18 May 2024.
