Football relies on the consistent application of its laws, and when an automatic suspension is lifted in extraordinary circumstances, it is understandable that questions about fairness and transparency follow. Belgium had every right to seek clarification, and many across the football world expressed concern about the precedent the decision could set. Regardless of the debate, Belgium ensured the discussion after the final whistle was about football rather than controversy. They answered every question on the pitch with a dominant 4-1 victory that fully deserved its place among the standout performances of the tournament.
